Nassau County School District

The Nassau County School District (NCSD) is made up of 16 schools that are fully accredited and serve five different areas: Bryceville, Callahan, Hilliard, Yulee, and Fernandina. Additionally, the district runs the Nassau Adult High School, which provides adult students with the opportunity to earn a high school diploma at four different locations in the county: Hilliard, Callahan, Yulee, and Fernandina.

Our school system implements a single feeder pattern in each community, which fosters a strong support system as children progress from one level of education to the next. Nassau County has consistently received generous support from parents and businesses within the district, resulting in a welcoming and familial atmosphere.

The population of Nassau County is distributed among its five geographical areas, with a total count of 94,189. The economy of Nassau County is diverse, with agricultural activities like tree farms in the western and central regions and various industries closer to Amelia Island. Rayonier, a significant employer in the area, owns much of the land used for tree farming and operates a large pulp mill in Fernandina Beach. Historically, the local economy has been characterized by tree farming, trucking, and pulp production. However, there is extensive growth in the outlying small towns in the rural western area, and the home construction market remains strong. Fernandina Beach is renowned for professional industries such as real estate, legal services, and medical care. It is also the nearest city to two high-end resorts, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Amelia Island Plantation.

Nassau County comprises 649 square miles of land and 74 square miles of water, mainly in the Atlantic Ocean. It is situated in the Northeastern part of the state, sharing borders with Georgia to the north, Duval County to the south, Baker County to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Fernandina Beach is situated on Amelia Island, the only inhabited island in the county.
